Zionn Sandoval scored 22 points and Palo Verde defeated Amphi, 69-59, in the 16th annual Martin Luther King Jr Basketball Classic at McKale Center.
"Playing here is great," said Sandoval. "You see it on TV and its something you wish to do. You get here and it's different than what it looks like. The court is a lot bigger."
In girls action, Sabino beat Sahuaro 62-50. It was just the second loss all season for the Cougars.
The seven-game event is produced by Coaches for Charity, which claims $4,300 will be given away this year in scholarship money.
