TUCSON, Arizona — Arizona football has been chosen to finish last in the Pac-12 South in a vote by 38 media members who cover the conference.

Wildcat coach Kevin Sumlin, who is recovering from coronavirus, hadn't heard about the vote during a zoom call Wednesday morning.

"None of those [media members] play," Sumlin said.

The Wildcats are coming off losing seasons in Sumlin's first two years, and three defensive starters transferred out during the uncertainty of the upcoming shortened season.

Oregon has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2020 Pac-12 Conference Football Championship. The defending Pac-12 champion Ducks received 21 votes to earn the preseason nod, edging USC (15).

The Ducks were the heavy favorites to repeat as Pac-12 North Division champions, earning 35 first-place votes. USC was picked to win the Pac-12 South.

Arizona opens the season November 7th at Utah.
