Monsoon Chocolate earns 14 awards at international competition

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Tucson's very own "bean-to-bar" chocolate factory has earned 14 awards at this year's Americas Bean-to-bar and Chocolatier Competition in New York.

Monsoon Chocolate competed against other companies from around the world, including businesses from Columbia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

The event was held from May 27 to June 3 with judging done by pastry chefs, restaurateurs, journalists and others in the area of the competition.

Monsoon chocolate placed in the following categories:

  • Gold - Pepper Rose Bon Bon (Ganaches or truffles using mixed dark/milk/white for coating and fillings)
  • Silver - Mesquite White Chocolate (White chocolate bars with an infusion or flavouring)
  • Silver - Basil Strawberry Bon Bon (Flavoured dark chocolate ganaches or truffles)
  • Silver - Whiskey Del Bac Dorado Bon Bon (Flavoured dark chocolate ganaches or truffles)
  • Silver - Blueberry Oat Cardamom Bon Bon (Ganaches or truffles using mixed dark/milk/white for coating and fillings)
  • Silver - Caramelized White Chocolate Truffle (Ganaches or truffles using mixed dark/milk/white for coating and fillings)
  • Silver - Mezcal Caramel (Dark chocolate enrobed caramels)
  • Silver - Prickly Pear Caramel (Dark chocolate enrobed caramels)
  • Bronze - Blue Corn Atole White Chocolate (White chocolate bars with an infusion or flavouring)
  • Bronze - Peppermint Dark Chocolate Truffle (Flavoured dark chocolate ganaches or truffles)
  • Bronze - Sonoran Sea Salt Truffle (Flavoured dark chocolate ganaches or truffles)
  • Bronze - Blood Orange Dulce De Leche Bon Bon (Ganaches or truffles using mixed dark/milk/white for coating and fillings)
  • Special - Blue Corn Atole White Chocolate (White chocolate bars with an infusion or flavouring)
  • Special - Mezcal Caramel (Dark chocolate enrobed caramels)
