A 49-year-old man from Green Valley was bitten by a rattlesnake Monday morning, near Desert Bell and La Cañada Drive.

According to Drexel Heights Fire District, the patient had been walking in a courtyard when he was bitten on the lower leg.

The patient was transported to Northwest Sahuarita Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

This marks the third time in about the last month where a rattlesnake has bitten someone near the intersection of Desert Bell and La Cañada in Green Valley. Earlier this month, a 50-year-old man was bitten twice in the same vicinity. Late last month, a woman was bitten while walking in her backyard.
