Glass
M. Night Shyamalan's much-anticipated capstone to his "Unbreakable" and "Split" trilogy turned out to be a misfire. Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy play superpowered entities who wind up in the same mental facility. They forge shifting alliances and engage in a conflict that could have worldwide implications. A promising setup falls flat due to stilted, slow storytelling. For my full review, click here. Extras include a slew of making-of featurettes, profiles of the characters, deleted scenes and an interview with Shyamalan and McAvoy.
Justice League: The Fatal Five
Yet another strong entry in DC's line of animated films, "The Fatal Five" pits Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman against Manno, Persuader and Tharok, who seek to enlist a female Green Lantern to free allies Emerald Empress and Validus to unleash destruction on the world. A capable voice cast of Elyes Gabel, Diane Guerrero. Kevin Conroy and George Newbern paces a crackling script and dynamic visuals. Extras include an array of featurettes, audieo commentary and a pair of vintage half-hour superhero shows.
Steven Universe: Season 2
The popular Cartoon Network comedy series follows the Crystal Gems' heroic efforts to save the world from a weapon buried deep under the planet's surface. An intriguing mix of action, coming-of-age and slapstick paradigms melds well into a peppy, invigorating show that manages to connect with viewers of all ages and rarely loses its momentum. Previously unaired animatics from episodes various make up the extras.
