The rest of the Arizona Cardinals coaching staff is starting to take shape, three days after the team announced the hiring of head coach Kliff Kingsbury .

The Cardinals announced the hiring of former Denver Broncos coach Vance Joseph as the team’s new defensive coordinator Friday.

Joseph, 46, has coached 14 seasons in the NFL and most recently coached the Broncos for two seasons (2017-2018).

In 2017, Joseph’s first season with the Broncos, the team had the number three ranked defense in the league. In 2018 the team ranked in the top-10 in the NFL in interceptions (17), takeaways (28) and sacks (44).

However, the team failed to make the playoffs in both seasons, with a combined record of 11-21. Joseph was let go as head coach after the 2018 season.

The Cardinals also announced the hiring of linebackers coach Bill Davis, and the return of special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers.

Davis was Arizona’s defensive coordinator in 2009-2010 and linebackers coach in 2007-2008. He most recently was the linebackers coach at Ohio State from 2017-2018. Ohio State won the Big Ten championship in both seasons.

Rodgers will return for his second season with the Cardinals as special teams coordinator. Rodgers helped lead punter Andy Lee, who set a franchise single-season record with a 48.6-yard punting average in 2018.
