Wildcats linebacker Colin Schooler leads by example

TUCSON, Ariz — Colin Schooler has all the statistics of a top Pac-12 linebacker, but it's his football instinct, a metric that's tough to measure, that makes him the heart and soul of the Wildcat defense.

Schooler enters his junior season with 35 career tackles for a loss. He was named Associated Press All-Pac 12 first team as a sophomore, one year after being a Freshman All-American.

"He's a guy that gets better every year and wants to win and do things right," said defensive coordinator Marcel Yates. "He leads more by example."

Schooler enters the season at 230 pounds, as he says being ten pounds lighter than he was last season has him less bulky.

"We're going to be a defense that doesn't allow the offense to dictate what will happen to us," said Schooler. "Our job is to get our offense on the field more."
