TUCSON, Ariz — Arizona Women's Basketball defeated Prairie View A&M 83-48 in front of 8,542 fans on School Day at McKale Center.
Playing in front of buses from 44 different schools, the Wildcats jumped out to a 15-0 lead and won their fifth straight game to begin the season.
"I think it was a great atmosphere," said head coach Adia Barnes. "A lot of schools come out to support us. For us, it's a really big day. We want our kids day to be one of the best in the country, and I think it is."
Aari McDonald backed up her 44-point performance at Texas by nearly recording a triple double. She finished with 15 poitns, 14 assists, and 9 rebounds.
"It was just about getting everyone involved," said McDonald. "We knew we were going to come out victorious but it was just about getting my teammates involved and making sure they were in successful positions."
The Wildcats, ranked 24th in the USA Today Coaches poll, visit Montana on Sunday.
