Tucson's Dylan Strome named AHL player of the week

TUCSON - Tucson Roadrunners forward Dylan Strome has been named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 26, 2017.

Strome, who has just been called up the Coyotes, notched four goals and four assists for eight points in three games for Tucson last week, helping Tucson to the top of the Western Conference standings.

On Wednesday night, Strome scored twice and added two assists, tying a season high with four points and earning first-star honors in the Roadrunners' 5-0 win over San Diego.

In the opener of a two-game set with Stockton on Friday, Strome scored a power-play goal in the second period before setting up the game-winning goal in the third as Tucson claimed a 3-2 victory.

Against Stockton on Saturday, Strome ran his scoring streak to seven games (7-9-16) with a goal and an assist in a 4-2 loss to the Heat. Strome's week ended with a recall by the parent Arizona Coyotes on Sunday.

The third overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, Strome is tied for the AHL lead with 18 assists, ranks second with 26 points and is tied for third with a plus-13 rating in just 15 games for Tucson. His 11 power-play assists and 14 power-play points are also both tied for the most in the league.

A 20-year-old rookie from Mississauga, Ont., Strome  is coming off a prolific junior career that saw him win an OHL scoring title in 2014-15 and earn MVP honors at the 2017 Memorial Cup tournament.
