TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson native Rachel Kinnison won a gold medal at a national collegiate skydiving competition.
Kinnison, a sophomore mechanical engineering cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, won the novice sport accuracy event at the 2018 U.S. Parachute Association National Collegiate Parachuting Championships in Eloy. She has completed 100 sky dives.
The sport accuracy event tasks skydivers to land as close as possible to a target while moving at high speed.
More than 70 skydivers took part in the competition, competing in disciplines including formation skydiving, vertical formation skydiving, sport accuracy and classic accuracy.
