TUCSON, Ariz. — It has been a long wait for one Arizona senior to get on the football field.

Tucson native Matt Aragon will be the Wildcats punter when Arizona opens the season Saturday at Hawaii.

"I remember we had season tickets," said Aragon. "I used to come to the games with my mom and my family."

Aragon is still wearing Arizona Wildcat gear to games, but now as a member of the football team.

That honor for the hometown player has been a long time coming. He has been waiting several years for his turn.

"For me it was always so much more important just to be home," explained Aragon.

Home is actually Vail, Ariz. He starred at Cienega High School as a 2-time All-State punter and standout receiver.

Fast forward 5 years, and Aragon is now the senior leader on special teams and ready to contribute.

"Help win football games. Flipping the field is going to be huge. Any Arizona fan will tell you that we've definitely had highs and lows with field position. Consistency has got to be huge for me."

Watching him punt this season will be one of the smallest Arizona Wildcat fans, his 6th month old daughter.

"When she was born it truly did change your life. You wake up every morning and you get to see her smiling at you. It's a miniature version of you. It's so much fun."
