SAN BERNARDINO, California — Izaiah Moraga hit a game-tying home run in the sixth inning, and Michel Muniz Jr. knocked in Francisco Rivero Jr. for the game winning run, as Sunnyside defeated Northern California, 3-2, to advance to the West Regional Final.
"I knew I tied the game up," said Moraga. "It feels really good because I'm losing my voice from all the celebrating."
Sunnyside trailed the entire game until their walk-off heroics in the sixth inning, as Little League games are just six innings. The team got solid relief pitching from Cristobal Lorta, who struck out the side in the fifth and sixth inning.
Sunnyside plays Hawaii on Saturday, and the winner will advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
