TUCSON, Arizona — Despite sporting events being put on hold, the Indoor Football League's Tucson Sugar Skulls are optimistic they'll be playing football in 2020.

Owner Cathy Guy wrote in a statement, "We want our fans, partners, and season ticket members to know the IFL and the Sugar Skulls absolutely have a plan to continue play in 2020. The postponement was a direct result of venue closures and for the protection of the public. Our foremost concern is the health and safety of our players, coaches, staff, and fans."

The Sugar Skills were set to play their second season at the Tucson Arena. So far, only their first two games have been postponed. The team says tickets for those games will be honored once a schedule is in place for those games.

The team says most of the coaches and players have remained in Tucson during this time.
