TUCSON, Ariz — Many NFL hopefuls will be watching the draft this Thursday on ABC. Shawn Poindexter won't be one of them.
"I'm going to watch The Avengers," said the Arizona Wildcat wide receiver of his plans to go to the movies.
Poindexter is coming off a season in which he tied a school record with eleven touchdowns for the Wildcats. He averaged more than eighteen yards per catch.
"When you turn on my film, I think you see that I make big plays and big time catches that others can't make," he said.
Poindexter will have his cell phone on and his TV off this Saturday, the day he is most likely to be drafted.
"There's going to be a lot of anxiety that goes along with the draft," he said. "People throw parties, and they're waiting around for three days, and their name doesn't get called. That's not the way to go."
Poindexter says that if his name isn't called, he knows which training camp invite he intends to accept as an undrafted free agent. However, he won't be watching.
"I'm sorry, I know you work for ABC," he added.
