TUCSON, Arizona — Sean Miller knows James Akinjo, who is transferring from Georgetown, from when he initially recruited him out of high school in Oakland, California. He now shares something in common with his newest WIldcat.

"I'm very familiar with another Big East Freshman of the Year," joked Miller. "He was an amazing player at Pitt. Me. I'm kidding but not kidding."

What's not funny is that Akinjo left Georgetown while three teammates are accused of charges from burglary to sexual assault. Akinjo is not charged.

"We did our research. We know him well," added Miller.

There were also comments by Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, made in December, saying that Georgetown is a better team with Akinjo.

"They got rid of a guy that wouldn't pass to anybody and just shot it all the time," said Boeheim. "And, that's why they're good now. The other guy was just throwing the ball up all the time. He lost two games by himself."

"People can make their own opinions about all our players," said Miller. "We have to make our own decisions."
