A record breaking performance from running back Bijon Robinson helped Salpointe defeat Sahuaro, 53-6, in the class 4A state semifinals at Mountain View High School.
"I'm really proud of their effort," said head coach Dennis Bene, who's team improved to 13-0.
Salpointe was up 53-0 at halftime and pulled its starters in the third quarter. Robinson set the school's single season rushing yardage and touchdown record.
"He's tremendous," said Bene of Robinson. "He's a tremendous kid. I'm so very proud of him and his teammates."
The Lancers will play Scottsdale Saguaro on November 30th at Arizona Stadium. The game will be a rematch of last year's Saguaro win.
"It feels amazing," said running back Mario Padilla. "I'm excited to play on the U of A field again."
