TUCOSN, Arizona — Salpointe came off a two week quarantine to defeat Buena at home, 37-6, in the only high school football game played in Tucson on Friday night.
The Lancers hadn't played since an October 2nd win over Casa Grande. A player then tested positive for COVID-19.
"We didn't do anything for two weeks," said junior Antonio Martinez, who caught a second quarter touchdown pass. "We put so much work in practice, and we came out today and showed it."
Salpointe quarterback Treyson Bourguet left the game in the third quarter for precautionary reasons after taking a hit to the head on a play that was penalized for targeting. He appeared uninjured on the sidelines.
Note: The 37-6 final score corrects a mention of 36-7 in the broadcast version of this story.
