Pima women advance but men lose in JUCO Division II Tournaments

TUCSON, Ariz — The Pima men's basketball team fell to Cecil College, 81-72, while the women's team defeated Lake Michigan, 81-79, in the first round of their respective JUCO Division II Tournaments.

The women's team advanced when a last second three-pointer by Lake Michigan's Aymia Flowers rimmed out. They will play Kansas City on Wednesday in Arkansas. Jacqulynn Nakai, who is the Aztecs all-time leading scoere, had a game-high 25 points and 8 rebounds for Pima.

The men's team, which advanced to the title game last year, moves to the consolation bracket in Danville, Illinois.

Aztec men's coach Brian Peabody is the NCAA District I Coach of the Year while women's coach Todd Holthaus is the NJCAA District A Coach of the Year.
