Tucson's expansion franchise in the Indoor Football League has named Marcus Coleman as its first ever head coach.
Coleman was introduced at Playground Bar and Lounge by team owner Kevin Guy.
"Being number one is always special," said Coleman. "You get to put your stamp on it. It has to be a good stamp, but at least you get the opportunity to come in and start with a clean slate and try to get things going in the right direction."
Coleman was most recently the defensive coordinator for the 2018 United Bowl Champion Iowa Barnstormers. He spent eleven seasons in the NFL as a defensive back.
"You're going to see a smart team," said Coleman. "You're going to see a disciplined team, though guys are going to act up and celebrate."
Coleman played for Texas Tech in the Red Raiders win over Air Force in the 1995 Copper Bowl.
Next up for Tucson's franchise is the naming of the team. Their schedule starts in March and there will be seven games at the Tucson Convention Center.
