TUCSON, Arizona — Ironwood Ridged Cactus Shadows, 605 to 603, at Omni Tucson National, for its second straight state championship.
"It felt really nice knowing again that we could do it by a couple of shots is amazing," said sophomore Zoe Newell.
The Nighthawks got strong performances from Celia Schrecker and McKenna Brown. They are also led by the Ports twins, Hannah and Raina.
"Me, Raina, and Zoe all live in the same neighborhood, and we all practice at the same course," said Hanna Ports. "So, we all see each other out practicing."
"We could still play as a team, too, to get ready for the season, so we didn’t have to wait until the season actually started to start practicing with one another," added Raina Ports.
"They have amazing heart," said head coach Doug Kautz. "They’re great kids to be around. They’re great to be around each other. It’s just a great, cohesive team."
