TUCSON, Arizona — The Indoor Football League has canceled the 2020 season due to health concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic.

The league's owners made the decision today in a conference call.

"Obviously, this is a very disappointing day for the league and our fans," said Tucson Sugar Skulls owner Cathy Guy. "The owners arrived at this decision in the best interests of all parties. The uncertainty of a definite timeline to reopen public venues has forced us to take this action."

The IFL's Board of Directors approved a 16-game schedule for 2021, which is two more games than the previous 14-game schedule.

This was the be the Sugar Skulls' second season and first with new head coach Dixie Wooten and quarterback Daquan Neal.
