Catalina Foothills Falcons head football coach Jeff Scurran told his players at practice on Monday that he is stepping down after this season.

Scurran resurrected the Falcons as he took the job following a winless 2012 season. He had the Falcons in the state playoffs in his first season as their coach.

Scurran is known as a turnaround artist, having coached at both the high school and college level. Earlier this season, the 71-year old collapsed on the field from dehydration following a game at Sabino, where he was inducted into the Sabercats Hall of Fame earlier that night. Scurran coached the Sabercats to two state titles.

Scurran coached Catalina Foothills and Santa Rita to state title games and Pima College to a bowl game.

Catalina Foothills hosts Sahuaro on Friday in its season finale.
