Former Arizona Wildcat catcher Cesar Salazar, playing for Hermosillo, returned to Tucson to take on his former teammates in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta.

"It'll be weird and exciting," Salazar said before the game at Kino Stadium.

The Houston Astros drafted Salazar, who als played for Sahuaro High School, in the seventh round of this year's amateur draft. Salazar spent three seasons at the UA. He joined the Naranjeros recently for winter ball after playing 86 games with two of the Astros' low-level minor league affiliates.

"I learned a lot from older players," said Salazar of his summer in the Astros system.. "It was a fun ride."

Although Salazar played high school baseball at Sahuaro, he is originally from Hermosillo and watched the Naranjeros play while growing up there.

This was the Wildcats first time playing in the Mexican Baseball Fiesta. Games continue at Kino Stadium through Sunday.
