TUCSON, Arizona — The career of Oro Valley's Donny Toia has come full circle in more ways than one.

"It's nice to come back home for a little bit and see some familair faces," said Toia.

When Donny Toia played for a young FC Tucson franchise back in 2012, he had recently been released from Real Salt Lake as a developmental player.

"It was a start, not just for me, but for Tucson in general."

Against the odds, Toia was able to work his way up to Major League Soccer. He scored his first goal with the Montreal Impact.

"I mean obviously, you dream of that, but for it to actually come true, it's pretty awesome."

Toia would bounce around MLS, keeping alive the dream of playing professional soccer. Toia actually played for four different professional teams, but at the end of 2018, Orlando didn't pick up the option on his contract. That's when Real Salt Lake called again.

"It's a great opportunity for me to go back there, and I'm excited for it."

Now, Toia is back with the team that originally signed hiim, training for the season next to his hometown.

"It's been a long ride. It's been a fun ride. But, I'm hoping to be with Real Salt Lake for a few years, now."
