TUCSON, Arizona — UArizona athletic director Dave Heeke and football coach Kevin Sumlin held a virtual news conference on Friday, one day after the Pac-12 announced a return to play this November.

When the Wildcat football team takes the field, it could be thin on defense.
Senior starters Colin Schooler, Tony Fields, and Scottie Young Jr. all transferred out of the program this past summer amid the uncertainty. Head coach Kevin Sumlin said each situation was unique.

"The Schooler situation was different just because they were brothers," said Sumlin, referring to wide receiver Brenden Schooler. "They were intent on going somewhere to play this fall. They didn't have the information that they have today."

Meanwhile, Heeke says the decision to not have fans or tailgating was made by the Pac-12 conference.

"While we’re disappointed on that, we’re pleased that we’re playing football," said Heeke. "We appreciate the passion of our fans. And, they’ve stayed with us. We hope to have a lot of ways to engage to watch the games and do different things to follow the Wildcats."

The seven game schedule should be released in the next few days.
