SIERRA VISTA, Arizona — With Salpointe in quarantine, Buena High School Football again had to find an opponent just days before kickoff, and the Colts will now travel to Paradise Valley High School.
Buena is coming off a 33-20 win over Combs this past Friday in a game that came together earlier in the week. It can be challenging for coach Joe Thomas and the Buena adminstration to schedule as not all teams are playing, and some games are getting postponed due to COVID-19.
"We're preparing for a season, but we don't always know if we're going to play or not," said junior linebacker William Stemler.
On Friday, senior quarterback Austin Grimm threw three first half touchdown passes including one to junior Keyon Taylor just before halftime.
"I told Austin that believed he could step up and be a varsity quarterback," said Taylor. "And, he showed that by throwing three touchdowns and having an enormous night."
The Colts game at Salpointe has been rescheduled for October 23rd following an open date on October 16th. They visit Casa Grande on October 30th.
