TEMPE, Ariz — Aari McDonald scored 20 points before fouling out and the 18th ranked WIldcats held on for a 58-53 at ASU for their first win in Tempe since 2000.
Sam Thomas blocked a 3-point attempt and hit two clutch free throws to preserve the victory. Cate Reese added 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Wildcat defense held the Sun Devils to 30% shooting from the field, and just 11% from beyond the 3-point arc.
Arizona improves its record to 12-0 on the season, and the ladies have won 18 games in a row dating back to last season's WNIT win. The Wildcats, now 1-0 in the Pac-12, will visit USC and UCLA next weekend.
