TUCSON, Ariz — Arizona Women's Basketball took a big step forward during the regular season. Now, they're taking a big step forward during the postseason.

Aari McDonald had 20 points, tied a career high with 12 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists in a 64-48 win over Pacific in the 2nd round of the WNIT. Arizona held the Tigers to just 30% field goal shooting.

"We made some really big defensive plays that led to some good offense.," said head coach Adia Barnes. "I was happy with the way we played in the second half, and the way we adjusted. We changed some things defensively, and the players adjusted really well."

Freshman Cate Reese backed up her big game in the opening round with an efficient 16 point performance on 7-10 shooting.

"We just showed how much better we've gotten from the non-conference play to Pac-12 play to now," said Reese. "I think we're all excited about it."

It's the first time since 1998 that the Wildcats have won two postseason games in the same year. They will host Idaho in the third round on Thursday night.
