Arizona women's golf returns home as NCAA champions

TUCSON, Ariz - Arizona women's golf returned home as National Champions on Thursday, one day after upsetting Alabama to win the NCAA title in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The Wildcats were greeted at the Jim Click Hall of Champions. They held the championship trophy up to the famous Queen song, 'We are the Champions.' A ceremony then gook place.

"It's just a dream come true," said junior Haley Moore, who sank the winning putt in extra holes against Alabama."When I first stepped on this campus for a visit, I told myself I could come here and win a national championship. To be able to do it is really special with a great group of teammates and some really special coaches."

"It's amazing how it was really a team effort," said junior Bianca Pagdanganan. "It's more fulfilling to know that everyone took part in this win."

Head Coach Laura Ianello wins her first championship as head coach after winning as a player in 2000.
