Arizona Softball building towards success

The Wildcat Softball team is under construction just like their stadium

TUCSON, Ariz. — It is a team and a stadium under construction, but Arizona Softball and Hillenbrand Stadium should be ready to debut in a month.

The Wildcats are hoping to build a team able to win a 9th National Championship in a totally renovated stadium.

Legendary head coach Mike Candrea says the a new Hillenbrand will be a game-changer for his program.

"Just going to be a remarkable addition to this program," said Candrea at softabll media day. "Not just for right now, but for the future of the program. Just really excited."

The players are equally excited about having a new-look Rita Hillenbrand Stadium.

"We're excited for the fans, and we're excited for coach, and the school," explained senior pitcher Taylor McQuillin. "We're just ready for Rita to get her facelift so we can start the season."

"We have a fun team," added outfielder Alyssa Palomino. "We're excited to play in front of our fans and this stadium."

Arizona opens the regular season February 8 in Tampa. The first home game is against New Mexico February 14.
