Arizona Basketball hires Jack Murphy as Associate Head Coach

TUCSON, Ariz — University of Arizona alum and former Northern Arizona basketball coach Jack Murphy is the Wildcats new associate head coach.

Murphy joins the Wildcats after most recently spending seven seasons with Lumberjacks.

"I am very excited to be back at the University of Arizona," Murphy said. "The great part about Arizona Basketball is that you never leave the family. You're just returning home after a long vacation to get ot work to help Coach Miller achieve all the goals he has set for Arizona. I just can't wait to get started."

Murphy was once a staff member for Lute Olson, working as a video and recruiting coordinator. He also spent time on the staff of the Denver Nuggets and Memphis University. He has an undergaduate and a masters degree from the Univeristy of Arizona.

"Jack combines invaluable head coaching experience, recruiting at the national level of college basketball, and an NBA pedigree," said Arizona head coach Sean Miller.

Murphy replaces Mark Phelps, who was relieved of his duties midway through last season.
