A rocket company will bring its manufacturing facility to Tucson, creating 200 jobs.
Vector Space Systems will hold a press conference Thursday to formally announce the move to bring its rocket facility to Pima County Aerospace, Defense and Technology Business & Research Park.
Company spokesman Jason Michael said the jobs will have an average salary of $75,000. The company will create a new facility, making a capital investment of $19 million over the next three years and $50 million over the next 15 years. Michael said the total economic impact on the region will be $290 million over the next five years.
The press conference will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tucson Convention Center.
"Vector Space Systems has decided to make Tucson the home for its headquarters and manufacturing facilities by relocating to the Pima County Aerospace, Defense and Technology Business & Research Park," said Jim Cantrell, CEO and founder of Vector Space Systems, in a statement. "While Vector’s eyes are focused on the stars, our home is in Arizona because we believe in its potential as a competitive tech hub, and we’re honored to have the opportunity to contribute toward its economic development in the aerospace manufacturing industry."
