TUCSON, Ariz. -- A community project is set to be unveiled in Barrio Viejo on Friday, November 15th.

United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona and other organizations are set to reveal the mural at La Suprema, just south of W. Cushing St..

The event will start at 3:30 p.m. and feature representatives from each partner organization involved, including StartUp Tucson, La Suprema, and SAACA who will each say a few words.

United Way says the special community mural project was part of the 20th Annual United Way’s Days of Caring that took place Oct. 25 and 26.

A public call-to-artists was sent out this summer to identify an artist who embodied the community spirit this project required. We received more than a dozen applications. Artist Isaac Caruso was the unanimous selection not only for his impressive design, but for the thorough research and care he incorporated for the historical significance of the building, neighborhood and local culture.
