TUCSON, Ariz. -- A new building is coming to Pima Community College. The main focus is to prepare students for the future of the auto industry.

The school celebrated the groundbreaking for the Center of Automotive Technology and Innovation on Thursday. Renderings of the 45,000 square foot facility were also on display to show what the facility will look like.

Officials tell KGUN9 it is being designed to adapt as technology in the industry advances. "I think one of the best parts of this facility are the competency based learning labs. These are cutting edge and I think these are like nothing Arizona has ever seen before, said Pima Community College President David Dore.

The facility is scheduled to be complete and operational in Spring 2021. PCC officials say they plan to have faculty and staff moved in from that spring semester.
