TUCSON, Ariz. - A man convicted of killing his girlfriend in November 2016 was sentenced Monday to life in prison.

Chet Maley was convicted of first-degree murder for killing 29-year-old Roxanne Ortiz at a home near Flowing Wells and Roger. Maley was intitially arrested on second-degree murder charges.

Tucson police say detectives learned that Ortiz and a man she had an ongoing romantic relationship with drove to a convenience store this morning. The argument then turned physical and Maley stabbed Ortiz. Maley ran off, but officers tracked Maley down and arrested him at a nearby home.

Maley was also sentenced to 10.5 years for kidnapping.
