Tucson police have made an arrest in a homicide that occurred early Monday.
Police have arrested 25-year-old Chet Maley for 2nd Degree Murder. Police say he and his partner got into a physical altercation which resulted in the victim being stabbed.
Just before 5:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of a woman down on North Flowing Wells Road, just south of West Roger Road.
As officers arrived, they located an adult woman on the ground with obvious stab wounds.
Officers began to render aid and requested paramedics.
Members from the Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene and took over treatment. The woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.
The woman has been identified as 29-year-old Roxanne Ortiz.
Detectives responded to continue the investigation and interviewed witnesses and collected evidence.
Police say detectives quickly learned that Ortiz and a man she had an ongoing romantic relationship with drove to a convenience store this morning.
The argument then turned physical and Ortiz was stabbed. Maley fled the area on foot and was not initially located.
Officers then located Maley at a residence in the area and detained him without incident.
He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
