A man accused of shooting a Tucson Police Officer in the head in 2016 was sentenced to more than 25 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Marcus De la Torre, 35, was sentenced Monday. He will serve 25.5 years in prison with no possibility of early release.

The incident started when officers tried to stop De La Torre when he was on his bike. TPD says he refused to stop and shot at officers during a chase.

One of the bullets grazed the head of a TPD officer. The officer was not seriously injured.

De La Torre was shot multiple times, but he survived.
