Road closures, power outages Wednesday in Southern Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Power outages, road closures and other weather-related activity in Southern Arizona Wednesday.

4:00 p.m.

Ski Valley announced today that the slopes will be closed Thursday, Feb. 23 as they assess damage after today's storm.

An earlier 'proceed with caution' at North Soldier Trail between East Limberlost Road and Thunderbird Trail has been upgraded to 'road closed.'

1:12 p.m.

More than 1,300 TEP customers in the Sahuarita area lost power Wednesday.

According to TEP's outage map, there was no cause or estimated time for power to be restored.

11:00 a.m.

Road closures according to Pima County:

  • Wentworth Road between Speedway Boulevard and Cape Horne Drive
  • North Soldier Trail between East Limberlost Road and Thunderbird Trail - not closed, but flooded. Pima County says proceed with caution.

New power outages have been recorded on TEP's outage map as of a little before 11 a.m.

Areas without power include Sam Hughes, areas on the west side near Speedway and I-10, El Camino del Cerro and Silverbell, Tucson Estates and some areas near Catalina.

I-19 in Sahuarita has reopened.

9:11 a.m.

The road to Mount Lemmon is closed.

7:35 a.m.

Overton has reopened after the downed power pole was cleared.

6:49 a.m.

Northbound Interstate 19 was closed in Sahuarita Wednesday due to downed power lines.

According to the Arizona Department of Transporation, the closure was near milepost 49, near Pima Mine Road.

Southbound lanes remained open.

6:47 a.m.

A downed power line closed El Camino del Cerro near Wild Life Drive Wednesday.

I-10 and Sunset workes as alternates.

Multiple power outages knocked out service to more than 4,000 TEP customers.

A downed power pole closed Overton Road in both directions between Shannon and Camino de la Tierra Wednesday.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, the pole was leaning toward the roadway.

PCSD is investigating the crash as a possible hit and run.

La Canada and Ina worked as alternates.
