TUCSON, Ariz. -- With rain in the forecast, and even snow for some across Arizona, ADOT wants to remind drivers to be careful on the roads.
Before deciding to travel make sure to check the weather and get the latest highway conditions by visiting ADOT's Arizona Traveler Information. Drivers can also call 511 or review ADOT's Twitter feed for alerts and closures.
If you have to drive, experts recommend following these tips:
- Inspect windshield wipers and replace them if necessary
- Keep your gas tank at least three-quarters full
- Drive for conditions -- slower speed, slower acceleration
- Maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you
- Do not risk crossing a flooded wash or drive around "Road Closed" signs
