More Stores Will Be Closed on Thanksgiving

Posted
and last updated

Take your time chowing down on turkey and stuffing this year, because there won't be nearly as many Thanksgiving Day shopping opportunities as in previous years. The savviest Black Friday shoppers used to stand in line for hours right after the dishes were dry and the leftovers were packed in the fridge, but more retailers are rebelling this year. Plus, lots of us have started shopping online anyway, so there's no point in waiting outside in the cold! Whether you want to stock up on toilet paper from Costco, buy an outdoor-loving pal a holiday gift from REI or update your kitchen gadgets from Sur La Table, you'll just have to wait. BestBlackFriday.com published a list of the retailers taking a stand against shopping on Thanksgiving. West Marinesears photo   Even though the actual stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, deals will likely be available even earlier on their websites! You may have seen Cabela's on some other lists, but the company confirmed its locations will indeed be open on Thanksgiving in a tweet. https://twitter.com/Cabelas/status/931975923829702660 The National Retail Federation has released its 2017 retail holiday planning playbook, which provides guidance for retailers based on lessons from previous years. It says more than half of shoppers begin planning and researching their holiday gift purchases in October—or earlier. Have you heard of other stores in your community that won't be open on Thanksgiving? Let us know on Facebook!
