Rain, mountain snow expected late Thursday and Friday

TUCSON, Ariz. - A weather system is expected to bring rain and significant mountain snow to Southern Arizona Thursday night and Friday morning.

As many as six inches of new snow could fall at elevations above 6,000 feet.

The snow could inch closer to the metro area overnight, with elevations as low as 3,500 feet getting as much six inches of snow.

Most areas in the region are expected to receive rainfall of a half-inch or less. Rain chances are 10 percent Thursday and 20 percent Friday.

Thursday's high should be 62 degrees, with a low of 41. Friday's high is expected to be 55 degrees with a low of 34.
