Former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Tyler Skaggs has died at the age of 27, according to the Los Angeles Angels.
It's unclear if the cause of his death is known.
Police in the area said Skaggs was pronounced deceased in a hotel room and no foul play is currently suspected.
Skaggs pitched 13 games for the Diamondbacks between the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
He then pitched for the Angels from 2014 until this season.
Skaggs most recently pitched for the Angels on June 29, against the Oakland A's.
“We are heartbroken with this tragic news," the Diamondbacks said in a statement. "Tyler began his Major League career as a Diamondback and he will always be remembered here as a great teammate and wonderful young man. His family is in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.”
