Salpointe Catholic High School makes Jim Reynolds the school's new head coach of varsity basketball. Reynolds spent 38 years coaching and teaching in Ohio before moving to Tucson two years ago.

"After coaching and teaching for 38 years in Ohio, I was looking for a special place to coach again and Salpointe is that special place with all its history and tradition, especially in the basketball program," said Reynolds.

In 2014 Reynolds received the Paul Walker Award from the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association for retiring with the most wins as a boys basketball coach in Ohio high school basketball history.

Reynolds has a Master's in Education from Xavier University and has taught physical education and health at both the elementary and secondary education levels. He has even coached baseball and golf, as well as worked administratively as an athletic director.

"We are excited to welcome Jim Reynolds to the Lancer family as our new men's basketball coach," said Salpointe Athletic Director Phil Gruensfelder. "Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our school.  He has coached for many years and has had great success. We look forward to him continuing the great tradition of Lancer men's basketball."

Reynolds' son, Ryan, is on the University of Arizona basketball staff.
