Tucson Roadrunners announce charitable foundation
Posted
The Tucson Roadrunners unveiled their new charitable foundation, "Roadrunners Give Back," at a news conference Wednesday at the Tucson Convention Center.

The newly-formed initiative will work as a branch of the Arizona Coyotes Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes healthcare, education and cultural arts programs for children and service men and women.

Coyotes president Steve Patterson joined new Roadrunners GM Steve Sullivan and new head coach Mike Van Ryn. This will the second season for the Roadrunners in the American Hockey League.

Sullivan was promoted to GM after serving as the team's Director of Player Development.

"It was a great start to the year," Sullivan said. "The first half was tremendous. It was a little bit of a letdown the second half. We think it could have been a little bit more of development. A little more opportunities for our younger players to play."

"Right now, its figuring out the identity of the team," said coach Mike Van Ryn. "How we want to play. What guys are going to fit in where. What guys they would like to see come up. What areas they need to get better in."

This fall, the Anaheim Ducks and Arizona Coyotes will play an NHL preseason game at the Tucson Convention Center.
