Top ranked Pusch Ridge fell in the 3A state title game Saturday night in Gilbert to #3 Casteel, 35-28. The loss is the Lions first this season. They finish with a 13-1 record.
Both teams went into tonight's game with a spotless 13-0 record. Pusch Ridge's ground and pound attack led all 6 conferences with 333.5 rushing ypg, led by quarterback Christian Fetsis and Mitch Maas.
The Lions kept it close in the 4th quarter, tying it at 28. But they turned it over on downs with 2:15 left on the 29 after trailing by a touchdown.
This was the first, and last, meeting between the 2 teams. As Casteel will be moving up to the 5A conference next season.
