Empire high school softball is the class 3A state champions after a 10-2 win over Yuma Catholic in a game played at ASU's Farrington Stadium.
The Ravens were down 1-0 until they scored four times in the third thanks to RBI doubles by Emma Garbutt and Celine Pacheco.
Empire added four more runs in the sixth, and two more in the the seventh inning.
"We played for each other this year," said senior outfielder Kailey Batterham. "We didn't play for ourselves or anyone in the stands. We played as a team."
Batterham added that the team was headed to In N Out restaurant to celebrate.
It's the Ravens second state title in three years. Their are eight girls on the current team that were on the 2015 team.
"Several of them had experienced that win," said head coach Shannon Woolridge. "They knew what it would take to get here."
