Benson has won the class 2A Arizona high school softball championship with a 5-1 win over Bourgade Catholic Monday night in Tempe.
At a game played at ASU's Farrington Stadium, the Bobcats jumped out with two runs in the first inning thanks to a Jamie Barney RBI double. Benson that added on to the lead with a third inning home run from Emmarae Wilson.
Head Coach Yogi Wilson's team ends the season on a ten game inning streak to finish with a record of 26-7. The state title is Benson's first since 2011.
