It will be remembered as one of the greatest World Series of all time...the Astros are the reigning world series champs after taking out the Los Angeles Dodgers in 7 games in the fall classic.
And tonight...Tucson got the chance to meet with one of their own champs.
Houston Astros pitching coach, and former member of the Tucson Toros was in town tonight, meeting with baseball fans and students of the game at Centerfield Baseball Academy.
“This is my home,” says Strom. “I met my wife here. I stayed here. I love the people.... if I can help the youth of Tucson baseball I’ll gladly help them any way I can.
Viewing the world series for the very first time since experiencing it in person back in November….” It’s a lot more relaxing when you know the outcome, than during the game. You don't really appreciate it, because your kind of caught in it. But once it's over with and you can kind of see the entire picture, you kind of see and reflect on the intricacies that allowed you to win.”
He also gave fans some insight into the inner workings of the Astros throughout the world series.
Strom said watching it back for the first time gave him goosebumps. “It was a dream come true. You think as a little boy you think about this and you never know if it's going to happen. I'm 69 years old so I appreciate it probably more than most.”
