Arizona women's basketball defeats Idaho in the third round of the WNIT

TUCSON, Ariz — Arizona women's basketball continued its run in the WNIT with a 68-60 win over Idaho in front of 6,307 fans at McKale Center.

"The crowd ignited us," said head coach Adia Barnes, referring to the season-high in attendance. "When we were flat and the basketball was ugly, and we were letting them hit shots, the crowd went crazy and started chanting ,'Arizona' and it made us made plays. You feed off of it as a player."

Barnes was a member of the Wildcats 1996 team that won the WNIT.

Aari McDonald scored eighteen points and added eleven assists, becoming the first Wildcat since Davellyn White in 2013 to record double digit assists in a game. Cate Reese was efficient by scoring fourteen poitns on 6-8 shootnig, and Sam Thomas added six steals.

McDonald suffered a split lip in the fourth quarter when she collided with the Vandals Lizzy Klinker.

The Wildcats advance to the quarterfinals where they will host Wyoming, Sunday, at 2:00 p.m.
