Arizona held a pep rally for fans at the Salt Lake Marriott Downtown at City Creek.

Fans experienced the hype and excitement of the day's matchup during an official University of Arizona rally. Wilbur T. Wildcat, the Arizona cheerleaders, the Arizona pep band and the pom line all performed before heading to Vivint Smart Home Arena for our first-round game.

The Wildcats are set to face Saint Mary's in the NCAA Round of 32. Arizona is coming off around one win in which it defeated North Dakota, 100-82. It was the most points the Wildcats have scored all season. Freshmen Lauri Marrkanen and Rawle Alkins each scored twenty.

The Gaels defeated VCU, 85-77. Center Jock Landale finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Just like Arizona, Saint Mary's lost just four times this season. Three of the Gales' losses were to Gonzaga, who also beat Arizona. The Zags are the number one seed in the west.

While the two schools haven't played since 2005, they've held a preseason scrimmage in recent years.

The Wildcats are 8-2 all-time in the NCAA Tournament in Salt Lake. The winner of today's game advances to the Sweet 16 in San Jose.
